Goodwill evacuated after possible explosive device donated
MENOMONEE FALLS -- The Menomonee Falls location of Goodwill was temporarily evacuated by police after the store received a donated item described as a \"grenade\".
According to the Menomonee Falls Police Department, officers were not able to determine if the donated item was an explosive or a novelty item. Police had store management evacuate the Goodwill.
The Milwaukee Police Department Bomb Squad responded to the Menomonee Falls Goodwill. The bomb squad transported the item to a remote part of the village, and detonated it. The bomb squad found that the item was not an explosive device.
Police want to remind the public that novelty items or conversation pieces can be misinterpreted by people who have no knowledge of the item's origin.
