Golden eggs surprise and delight at Hunger Task Force

\"Our Stories with Michele\" is a regular feature on the CBS 58 News at 4 and 4:30.

Anchor/Reporter Michele McCormack devotes some extra time to people of action in our community.

On Wednesday the focus was on the annual Easter basket giveaway at Hunger Task Force.

\"Best thing to happen to me for Easter,\" declared Geraldine Jones who was looking for a food donation and walked away with an Easter basket and a golden egg with $50 dollars inside.

\"It will go to good use,\" she declared.

Volunteers at the trusted Hunger Task Force food bank began filling huge bins to the brim with food not only to get folks through Easter dinner, but maybe some other nights when a full meal because of money troubles is hard to come by.

\"Eating as a family is extremely important we all know that,\" said Hunger Task Force's Jonathan Hansen, \"But especially at the holidays.\"

A critical element is the participation of Palermo's not only in providing its workers to put the baskets together but also the donation of pizza and money and a commitment to keep this eight year tradition going as long as it's necessary.

\"All the food you see here was donated by Palermo's employees and our vendors,\" Palermo's Laurie Fallucca told CBS 58 News. \"So it's a big collaboration collaboration that goes into this.\"

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and County Executive Chris Abele pitched in as well. s Some 1.500 families rely on this event to make it through the holiday.
