'God bless us, every one!': Milwaukee Repertory Theater seeks young talent for 'A Christmas Carol'

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Repertory Theater is set to host auditions for young performers, ages 8-13, seeking to join the cast of a Milwaukee holiday tradition, "A Christmas Carol."

They are aiming to fill out much of the cast, including finding the next Tiny Tim. The young performers will join a cast already headlined by Milwaukeean Matt Daniels who will star as Ebeneezer Scrooge, as he also did in 2022.

Auditions will take place on Thursday, June 22 and Saturday, June 24. A free audition workshop will be available both days from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Interested parties can secure an audition slot through the ACC Young Performer Audition sign up portal.

"A Christmas Carol," adapted by Artistic Director Mark Clements, tells the story of Scrooge as he is visited by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future on one magical Christmas Eve. The original story by Charles Dickens, dating back to 1843, tells a tale of love, hope and redemption, with Milwaukee Rep utilizing music, dance, costumes, scenery and special effects during the performance.

The Pabst Theater will host the performances from Nov. 28 to Dec. 24. Rehearsals run from Nov. 7 to 26, so parents should be aware that young performers may need to miss some school for technical rehearsals and matinee performances.
