MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Music ensemble Present Music's "Northern Lights | Southern Nights" concert on April 6 will feature compositions and performers from Scandinavia, Brazil and Ireland, including two world premieres.
The event will take place at the Milwaukee Art Museum in Windhover Hall.
Composer Dan Trueman, 10-string fiddler Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh and Grammy-nominated Brazilian composer Clarice Assad joined us on Tuesday, April 4 to discuss their excitement for the upcoming performance and collaboration.
The concert will showcase the world premiere of Trueman's "Midden Find," composed in collaboration with Ó Raghallaigh, as well as Assad's "Retro Pop," a three-movement work inspired by John Lennon, Michel Legrand and Herbie Hancock.
The program also features contemporary works by Scandinavian composers, including Kjell Habbestad's "Quattro Stazioni," Johann Johannsson's "Flight from the City" and Emilia Amper's "Spelpuma." Present Music Co-Artist Director Eric Segnitz highlighted the rarity of featuring two world premieres and three renowned solo performers in a single event, promising an evening of both contemplation and high spirits.
In-person and livestream tickets can be purchased at Present Music's website. In-person ticketholders receive free access to the Milwaukee Art Museum galleries the day of the performance.
