Apple picking is such a great family tradition during fall in southeast Wisconsin. Today's question: why do honey crisp apples cost so much more than other apples?
Harold Nieman of Nieman Markets says we're right, those sweet, crunchy honey crisps are more expensive.
"It's probably about 20-30% more valuable than your regular varieties." said Nieman.
Why is that?
"Due to their value and their current popularity, it's more of the customer demand." he said. "The apple is not as heavily planted yet as other varities that have been here for 20-30-40-50 years."
So, it's basically just supply and demand.
"Supply and demand." said Nieman. "And a very good piece of fruit."
