MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast are rolling out new programs this school year to support troop leaders and girls. Emily Roethle, director of marketing and communications, joined us on Monday, Sept. 15 to talk about what's ahead.
New Daisy and Brownie troop leaders will now receive a complimentary Girl Scout Experience Box delivered to their home. The subscription box includes supplies, scripts, and activities for meetings, aimed at making it easier for leaders to guide younger Scouts.
The organization is also launching a Body Appreciation Program. Research shows more than one third of girls ages 5-13 hear negative body image messages from women around them, and half of girls ages 11-13 would like to change something about their appearance. The program aims to help girls value what their bodies can do rather than how they look.
