MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A heartfelt tradition for a Milwaukee family centered around giving back took place Friday, Dec. 19.
Jeanette Robinson was a local child whose birthday landed around Christmas.
In the spirit of giving back, Robinson decided that instead of keeping her birthday presents, she would give them away to her friends who didn't get much that Christmas.
Four years later, Robinson -- along with her mother Cheryl, were killed but her acts of kindness still live on to this day.
A group of her cousins funded the "Gifts of Love" program, which brings a wide variety of gifts to students in under resourced schools.
Since its start in 2021, the program has helped serve more than 2,500 students across Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS).
