MILWAUKEE (CBS 58)-- Only a few seconds count when faced with a dangerous situation!
This is one of the basic lessons learned at any self-defense class.
A class geared toward women will be held this weekend, starting Saturday, Nov. 20, on Milwaukee's northwest side at Jericho Church Without Walls.
One important piece of advice from teachers is focus on your attacker's vulnerable places, like eyes, nose, throat, and groin. Experts say to stay away from the chest and knees, especially the knees because this area requires a special kind of kick to be effective. Also, be loud. Make it known that you're a powerful force.
The Women's Self-defense class on Saturday starts at 11 am. The address is 8086 N. 76th Street in Milwaukee. The cost is $25. You're asked to pre-register in advance. Click here to do so.
