GERMANTOWN, Wis. (CBS 58) - Wisconsin High School Basketball Playoffs are underway across the state. On Friday, February 25th, the Germantown girls looks to start their journey to repeat as Division 1 State Champions.

It's some players favorite time of the year.

"I'll always have jitters going into a playoff game but as soon as the ball goes up. We're ready to ball from there," said junior KK Arnold, Germantown's all-time leading scorer and UConn commit.

This will be the first time the Warhawks girls enter the playoffs as reigning champions. Something that might help their cause.

"That motivation that we want to do it. This is my senior year. I want to go out with a bang. Do it again. Repeat," said Germantown senior Emilie Wizner.

"We've been doing really good lately. Team chemistry is there. We just need to right off the bat, get out and go," said Arnold.

Germantown(20-4) has won 13-straight games entering their playoff opener with Green Bay East (2-22). But only Wizner and Arnold return as players that played in last year's title game while other contributors from a year ago saw expanded roles this season.

Warhawks Coach Matt Stuve challenged his team early with teams that finished the regular season as the top ranked teams in their respective divisions, like Hortonville and Reedsburg, as well as four playoff seeds to help later down the line.

"You know you tell the kids, we've been in situations like this. We've played tough teams like this so they have that experience to draw back upon. They understand that, just treat it like that moment," said Stuve.

He says that's how the team treated last year's tournament run just like basketball. The girls have that same passion and focus as they look for six more wins and another gold ball.

"Prove them wrong, I feel like people doubted us and thought we weren't going to be that good this season," said Wizner. "So, I think we want to prove them wrong and show everyone that we can do it."

"Stay after it, stay hungry because we can never get enough," said Arnold.

Germantown hosts Green Bay East at 7pm Friday, February 25th.
