Georgia senior facing graduation ban for yearbook quote
GEORGIA -- A Georgia high school senior could be banned from her graduation ceremony for creatively using elements on the periodic table in her yearbook quote.
WSBTV reorts Paris Gray used the following quote in her school's yearbook, \"When the going gets tough just remember to Barium, Carbon, Potassium, Thorium Astatine, Arsenic, Sulfur, Uranium, Phosphorus.\"
When the periodic abbreviation of Gray's quote is spelled out her quote says, \"When the going gets tough just remember to back that as_ up.\" The quote is a reference to the 1999 hit single by rapper Juvenile.
Gray says her quote wasn't flagged by any editors or adults overseeing the yearbook project.
Gray's mother told WSBTV, \"My first reaction was, you are such a nerd.\"
The assistant principal of Gray's high school told her she won't be delivering the graduation speech anymore.
