Gas prices low just in time for the 4th of July

Just in time for the 4th of July, the price of gasoline has fallen more than a penny a gallon in the Milwaukee area  in the past week.   According to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 615 gas outlets in Milwaukee, the average price of gasoline is $2.19 a gallon.

With the price changes over the past week, the average price of gasoline is 17.8 cents a gallon lower than one year ago, and 16.5 cents lower than one month ago.

Nationally, gasoline is averaging $2.22 per gallon.

Dan McTeague of GasBuddy said what may be the lowest average prices for the summer are well timed for the 4th of July.   “While gasoline prices will likely begin to creep higher, the summer driving season could still end up being the lowest overall average since 2005," said McTeague.
