Garza stop skid with complete game shutout

CINCINNATI - Matt Garza played the role of stopper in a few ways Saturday, throwing a complete game shutout to break the Brewers four game losing streak in a 1-0 win at Great American Ballpark.

Aramis Ramirez drove in a run in the first inning with a single, and Garza made that run stand up all afternoon. He allowed just two hits and struck out nine Reds batters.

The Brewers bats continued to struggle, just as they had during the previous four games, all losses. But Garza made the silent bats a non-issue by shutting down the Reds lineup all afternoon.

The Brewers can take two of three from the Reds if they win the series finale Sunday. Yovani Gallardo gets the start for Milwaukee.
