Full freeway closure of I-41/US-45 north of Zoo Interchange set for this weekend

MILWAUKEE COUNTY (CBS 58) -- Drivers will need to plan ahead if their travels take them north of the Zoo Interchange this weekend.

Starting Friday evening, Jan. 14 and extending until early Monday morning, Jan. 17, crews will begin to demolish the old Union Pacific Railroad Bridge that straddles the I-41/US-45 north and southbound corridor. The project comes following the completion of the new bridge that will take its place.

Several detours will be in place during the 52-hour closure. Drivers will experience delays and additional traffic along Hwy-100, Watertown Plank Road, 124th Street and Burleigh as these are the recommended detours for drivers that utilize the freeway.

Should inclement weather occur, the closure will take place the following weekend of January 21 through January 24th.
