MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- With this cold weather, some people in our hometown are stepping up to help with a simple gesture.
Through Friday, the Friendship Circle's Cafe and Bakery offered up free bowls of soup.
That included free home deliveries.
It was an idea given to the shop's owner, who was looking for a way to help his community.
"I was talking to someone who told me that and told me that they're afraid that they're going to be alone," said President and CEO of the Friendship Circle Levi Stien. "No visitors it's so cold it's not safe to go out, and they were like if only someone would stop by with a warm smile and maybe a cup of soup, and I was like you know what, that's a great idea."
If you or anyone you know needs help dealing with the cold weather, call 211 to get connected to resources.
