Meet CBS 58’s Pet of the Week: Gigi
FRANKLIN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The cities of Franklin and Oak Creek just signed a "monumental agreement."
The cities' mayors signed a 40-year agreement that will ensure their citizens will get high-quality drinking water.
They also have the option to extend the agreement to another 40 years.
We're told negotiations started in 2016, and Franklin ultimately chose to work with Oak Creek again.
Both mayors say they're partners in this agreement.
"Together, we're not competing. Together, we are together, because we both want safe, clean water for our residents and our business owners," said Franklin Mayor John Nelson.
"We have to share it for the mutual good of the communities," said Oak Creek Mayor Daniel Bukiewicz. "Not a community, but the communities. We're all in this together."
Mayor Bukiewicz says this agreement will also benefit Caledonia.
