Four displaced by south side fire Friday
Four people were displaced by a fire in their south side apartment Friday night. The fire was reported around 9:20 in a multifamily apartment building at S 23rd Street and W Layton Avenue. The Milwaukee Fire Department had the blaze under control within 15 minutes of their arrival and were able to contain the fire to just one apartment. The Red Cross was contacted to assist the 4 people displaced by the fire. The other residents of the building were allowed back into their apartments. The cause of the fire is under investigation and there is no estimate of the dollar amount of damage to the building.
