PORT WASHINGTON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Great news! A red-footed tortoise missing from her home in Port Washington has been found safe! 

Gus, short for Augusta, was purchased by Brittany Hudson back in 2000 from a man in Arizona. 

Gus, now 23 years old, went missing last week after escaping from her backyard enclosure. 

One week later, Sept. 29, Hudson let CBS 58 know a neighbor called and said he thought she may be in his driveway. The neighbor said he was mowing his lawn and Gus "popped out of her shell." 

Hudson rushed over and sure enough, it was Gus! 

Hudson said she's in shock and so happy.
