Former Wisconsin union treasurer sentenced for embezzlement

GREEN BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) – A former Wisconsin union treasurer was sentenced to 13 months in prison for embezzlement, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
The woman, 59-year-old Cheryl A. Angell of Kaukauna, was also ordered to pay $98,711 in restitution to United Steelworkers Local 2.
According to the DOJ, Angell was sentenced after she pleaded guilty to embezzling $98,711 in union funds over four years.
Angell admitted to writing more than 100 checks to herself, using a union credit card for personal use and depositing the proceeds of union checks into her personal account.
Authorities say she spent a considerable amount of the money at casinos.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Labor.
