Milwaukee’s Downtown Dining Week officially underway
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A people person with a familiar name and face, who led a South Shore community for nearly 30 years, was honored Monday with a special celebration.
Obviously, the pandemic forced some changes, but he still got a 100th birthday party he'll never forget.
People lined up in their cars to wish former South Milwaukee mayor Chet Grobschmidt a happy birthday.
They brought signs, balloons, and of course, gifts.
His daughter and the city worked together to make sure the parade was a success.
"My father is ecstatic," said daughter Karen Southerlin. "He hasn't seen people with this COVID-19 since March, and my dad is very much a people person, and I think this is better than any party."
Being a huge Packers fan, one of the gifts he got was a Packers commemorative football signed by Brian Gutekunst, Mark Murphy and Matt LaFleur.
