GREEN BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- After 17 NFL seasons, and 16 in a Green Bay Packers #2 jersey? Mason Crosby says it has come time to retire.

"The time I had in Green Bay was exceptional," Mason Crosby said. "You know, and it's like I just didn't feel like I wanted to you know, just keep kind of chasing something that I couldn't capture like what I had there in Green Bay. So, some of that. And you know, I think my mind and my body were at odds too."

CBS 58's Lance Allan: "The all-time leading scorer in Packers history by a wide margin over Ryan Longwell. And then 11th all-time scorer in NFL history. Those are some pretty lofty things, my friend. You know, was that even a thought? A goal? An aspiration? And then when you achieved it, was it just kind of like, wow?"

Crosby: "It just always goes back to me with you know, the teams I got to play on. And my teammates. And the people in that building," Crosby says.

But since he's a team guy, is the Super Bowl still the pinnacle? Can he believe it's been 14 years? Does it get sweeter as the years go by?

"Yeah, the Super Bowl is," Crosby says. "That's, I wouldn't even say cherry on the top. That's the whole cake. You know, it's like, everything else. All the accolades. All the stuff. The career is kind of the icing and the cherry and you know, the substance is winning a Super Bowl."
