Former Officer Who Shot Dontre Hamilton Receives Disability Retirement

The Milwaukee Police Officer who shot and killed Dontre Hamilton in Red Arrow Park will get duty disability retirement.

The city's pension board has approved Christopher Manney's request. The filing says Manney has severe post-traumatic stress disorder from the shooting.

Officers who are approved for the retirement perk usually get 75% of their salary tax free. The Journal Sentinel reports Manney drew a gross salary of more than $71,000 in 2013.

Manney was fired after the shooting but never charged.
