Former Greenfield police chief facing more felony charges

GREENFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Greenfields former police chief is facing two new felony charges. 

Jay Johnson has been accused of remotely accessing his personal cellphone after it was seized by police. 

Prosecutors say he then factory reset it in order to destroy evidence. 

He was previously accused of doing the same thing with his department issued phone. 

Johnson is pleading guilty and will be back in court in March. 


GREENFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Greenfield's former police chief is facing a new felony charge Thursday, Jan. 15. 

Prosecutors are adding a computer crimes charge, accusing Jay Johnson of illegally deleting messages off of his department issued phone. 

They believe he remotely accessed that phone after it was confiscated by the city as part of an internal investigation. 

Johnson is also facing a misconduct in office charge linked to a long list of complaints. 

He is due back in court in February.
