Fond du Lac Humane Society caring for starving dog left behind by owners

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Fond du Lac Humane Society is caring for a dog who was left behind in a house where the owners moved out.

The Fond du Lac Police Department is currently searching for the owners who left their dog behind.

The Humane Society says they've been feeding the dog small amounts of food and water around the clock in an attempt to keep him from dying from bloat.

According to the Humane Society, it's a long and daunting task to reverse the effects of starvation, severe dehydration, and emaciation.

"A lot of people do not know; if you find someone in this condition, the worst thing you can do is feed them, it can cause bloat and kill them very quickly," said the Fond du lac Humane Society in a Facebook post.
