Florida Panthers GM Bill Zito credits '82 Brewers with getting him to where he is today

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The big question about the 2025 Brewers - can this team get to the World Series like the beloved 1982 Brew Crew?

Florida Panthers General Manager Bill Zito won back-to-back Stanley Cups and grew up here. He was also a bat boy for the 1982 Brewers and insists that experience is why he's doing what he's doing today.

"Ultimately that may be the most valuable opportunity and experience as far as being a GM for obvious reasons," Zito says. "Mr. Dalton took me under his wing, was kind.  Taught me and exposed me to so many aspects of professional sports.

"From scouting, to budgets, to ordering equipment to anything and everything in between. The players have a level, Milwaukee Brewers of that time had a level of grace in the way that they treated me.  We had some cranky, Gorman. Vuke. Rollie. And every one of them would come in and they would terrorize us, right?  But it was always, here's 20 bucks.  You know, don't tell anyway. So they were always very kind.  No one, everybody always made you feel like a million bucks."
