89-year-old woman dies following car crash in Port Washington

OZAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Officials say 89-year-old Nelda Bartz of Port Washington died on Sept. 4 as a result of injuries sustained in the motor vehicle crash Saturday.

The 20-year-old driver of the striking vehicle was issued a citation for failure to yield right of way, causing death. 

The crash remains under investigation.

PORT WASHINGTON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A two-vehicle car crash in Port Washington left multiple people injured Saturday, Sept. 4.

Authorities report the crash occurred at approximately 3:14 p.m. on Saturday.

The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene Saturday n CTH KK at Mink Ranch Rd. in the Town of Port Washington.

Officials say a 2019 Chevrolet SUV was northbound on CTH KK and was struck by a 2001 Pontiac car headed eastbound on Mink Ranch Rd. which failed to stop/yield for the stop sign.

The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office indicates that the Chevrolet was driven by a 62-year-old male from Port Washington.

Reports show he received life-threatening injuries and was taken by Flight for Life helicopter to Froedtert Hospital.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the front passenger was a 64-year-old female from Port Washington.

She was transported by ambulance to Aurora Medical Center in Grafton with serious injuries.

Authorities say the rear passenger was an 89-year-old female from Port Washington.

She was transported by ThedaStar helicopter to Froedtert Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office say that the driver of the Pontiac was a 20-year-old female from Port Washington.

She was also transported to Froedtert Hospital by Flight for Life helicopter with serious injuries.

Officials say the passenger in the Pontiac was an 8-year-old female from Port Washington who was transported by ambulance to Aurora Medical Center in Grafton with minor injuries.

The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office add that CTH KK between CTH LL and Willow Ln., and Mink Ranch Rd. between Northwoods Rd. and CTH B will remain temporarily closed while an accident reconstruction is being conducted.

The crash remains under investigation.
