Five teens arrested in connection with Milwaukee armed robberies

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police say they have five suspects in custody who they believe are responsible for several armed robberies across Milwaukee.

Police have two 16-year-olds, one 17-year-old, and two 18-year-olds in custody. The group was spotted riding in a stolen vehicle near 72nd and Hampton Ave. around 8:45 p.m. on September 10. When police officers tried to pull over the group of teens, they fled leading police on a chase for about 10 minutes. Police say they arrested the group after the teens jumped out of the car and tried to escape on foot.

Officers with the Milwaukee Police Department recovered a semi-automatic gun, and three car keys.

Police say the group could be responsible for at least 12 armed robberies during the first two weeks of September. This estimate includes some of the robberies reported on Milwaukee's east side on September 9-10.
