First responders search City Beach for possible missing child, determine no child was missing

OCONOMOWOC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Officials issued an update about an hour after requesting assistance in locating a child that was believed to be possibly missing in City Beach. After searching, no child was found, and they have also determined that there was never any child missing at all.

The confusion was determined to come from a "better safe than sorry" call from lifeguards.


OCONOMOWOC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Divers with the Western Lakes Fire District are searching City Beach in Oconomowoc for a possible missing child who may have gone underwater.

The Western Lakes Fire District took to Facebook on Wednesday, July 9 to say it was requested to respond for a possible swimmer that went under the water. Divers from Western Lakes and Lake Country Fire are involved in the search operation.

Officials described the child as being around 7 years old.
