First responders save Racine man having heart attack that caused crash

MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. (CBS 58) -- On Saturday Mount Pleasant Police responded to the intersection of Green Bay Road and Spring Street for a car accident and were told that one of the drivers was having a heart attack.

A 52-year-old Racine man was taken out of his pick-up and officers began CPR and then used a defibrillator until they were successful. The man was then taken to Wheaton Franciscan Hospital.

The two car crash occurred in the south lanes of State Highway 31 (Green Bay Road) when a SUV stopped at the intersection was hit from behind by the pick-up truck due to the medical emergency. The crash was at a low speed and no one in the SUV was injured.
