MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- People in Milwaukee's Century City neighborhood on the north side had a chance to get some fresh local produce Tuesday, Aug. 11.
The Northwest Side Community Development Corporation held a pop-up farmers market.Â
Two more pop-up farmers markets are planned in the coming weeks in areas that lack sufficient access to fresh food in Milwaukee.
Organizers say these types of events are desperately needed.
"This is serving an area that's underserved," said Sarah Bregant, Northwest Side CDC. "I think there's a lot of pent up demand for farmers market and fresh food access in the neighborhood in particular, and this neighborhood has so much to offer. We'd love to do something like this that more permanently serves residents that are here."
The dates and locations for the upcoming markets are as follow, from 3:30-6:30 in the evening:
- August 18: Ascension All Saints Family Health Center - 2400 W. Villard Avenue
- August 25: MMSD West Basin (former Bee Bus site) - 4350 N. 35th Street
Social distancing practices will be in place and masks are required.
