Firefighters battle house fire Saturday in Racine

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Racine Fire Department responded to a fire at 1600 Illinois Street Saturday, August 7, after receiving reports of heavy smoke from the location.

Racine officials say that upon arrival at the location, firefighters saw smoke coming from a single-story residence and quickly put out the blaze.

Authorities say the residence's occupant was not home at the time of the fire but is now displaced and will reside with relatives until further notice.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Racine Fire Department estimates the total damage estimate to be approximately $21,500 following Saturday's fire.
