Fire displaces 13 from Milwaukee duplex

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Thirteen people have been displaced by an early morning fire in a duplex on Milwaukee’s northwest side.  

Seven adults and six children were able to escape unharmed from the fire at a two-story home on Thurston Avenue near N 76th Street.   

The Milwaukee Fire Department was called to the fire at 1:20 AM Saturday. According to the MFD, the fire started in the kitchen of the first floor unit of the building. The damage to the building is estimated at $105,000. The cause of the fire is still being investigated. The Red Cross was notified of the fire.
