Fire displaces 11 people from home

Eleven people are out of their home this morning following a devastating fire.  The Milwaukee Fire Department was called to the home at N 27th Street and W Custer Avenue around 6:20 AM.  When the firefighters arrived, the 3 bedroom home was fully involved in flames.  The fire was under control within 30 minutes, but the structure was severely damaged.  According to the Battalion Chief on scene, two neighboring homes were also damaged.  No one was injured in the fire, even though there were no working smoke detectors in the home.  The cause of the fire is under investigation and the family is being assisted by the Red Cross.
