Fire Cancels School at Messmer Prepatory School

Firefighters were called to Messmer Prepatory Catholic School Friday morning for a fire. According to the Milwaukee Fire Department, the fire was reported at 6:41 AM and crews had extinguished by 7:15 AM.

School officials say a few students and staff were at the school when the fire was happening but everyone got out safely. Firefighters say it was an attic fire on the second floor and firefighters are still ventilating the building because there was a lot of smoke.

Students who had already reported for class were taken to Messmer High School to be picked up.

Initial investigation suggests the fire was electrical and accident but the arson squad has been called in to investigate.
