MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The holiday season is a time for giving, with that sentiment especially being felt here in Wisconsin.
To offer a little extra holiday cheer, one initiative works to fill shoeboxes with small gifts for a chosen age and gender group. Those boxes are then distributed to folks in the community needing a little extra holiday cheer.
"Santa in a Shoebox" was founded by Diana Higgenbottom Anagnostopoulos who joined us on Tuesday, Nov. 8 to discuss the program and how interested people in Southeast Wisconsin can join in on the fun of giving.
The organization is a non-profit piecing together boxes of gifts for residents of eight age groups, each separated by gender, making 16 categories that can be shopped for.
Donation recommendations, as well as other methods of helping, can be found by visiting them online.
