Fiesta Waukesha Kicks Off

Fiesta Waukesha kicked off Friday next to the Fox River.

“We have all kinds of excellent food,” said Anselmo Villareal, CEO and President of La Casa De Esperanza.

Artists from Guatemala are among the variety of artisans.

All proceeds go of the Fiesta Waukesha go to La Casa De Esperanza’s charter school.

Fiesta Waukesha kicks off Friday, June 10 and runs through Sunday, June 12 at Frame Park. For 35 years, the event has served as a way to share Hispanic music, food and traditions with the entire community.

There's something different for kids and adults to enjoy throughout the weekend, including barbecue ribs and chicken cooked by Waukesha Mayor Shawn Reilly.

The event is organized by La Casa de Esperanza, a local organization that's been around for 50 years.

"But not too many people know everything that we do, but it's a big, big agency," said event organizer Carman De La Paz. "We provide many programs that are needed not only for Hispanics, but for the community at large."

Admission is free and all the proceeds benefit La Casa's charter school.
