Female Correctional Officer in Racine County Charged with Sexually Assaulting Female Inmate

A female correctional officer in Racine County allegedly sexually assaulted a female inmate.

Katherine Rekau was charged with three counts of second degree sexual assault by correctional staff.

According to the criminal complaint, the inmate was located at Ellsworth Correctional Institution.

The inmate told police the correctional officer had a relationship with her that was sexual.

She said she had a tattoo put on her ankle with the officer’s name.

Rekau denied the relationship being sexual but did admit to writing letters to the inmate.
