Felted Wool Mittens Workshop

Reuse, recycle and recreate a piece of wearable art from old wool sweaters! Anyone with basic sewing skills is welcome to enroll and enjoy an afternoon of fun instruction and camaraderie. You will go home prepared for cold weather and warm hands. (Or perhaps a completed Christmas gift!)

In this three-hour workshop, the student will make mittens from wool sweaters that are felted and refashioned into a piece of fiber art. Ideas for adding appliqué and embellishing will be shared. The class includes hands-on instruction and the pattern. Students will bring their sewing machine and mitten materials. A complete supply list will be provided upon confirmation of enrollment.

The instructor, Wendy Rieves, is a talented Wisconsin quilter and sewist who teaches at Waukesha County Technical College and Frank’s Sewing Center. She has been teaching people to make mittens from her unique pattern for 10 years.
