Federal funding to go towards phase 2 of construction at Port Milwaukee

WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- Federal funding in the amount of $653 million will go towards 41 port infrastructure projects across the country, including one in Milwaukee.

The Biden administration announced the funding Friday, Nov. 3.

More than $9 million will fund phase two of construction at Port Milwaukee's Agricultural Maritime Export Facility on Jones Island.

Two grain silos will be built, and upgrades will be made to electrical services.

More grain and cargo handling equipment will expand the port's capacity.

This federal funding comes in response to a supply chain crisis sparked by the pandemic.
