FDA to offer second COVID-19 booster shot

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The FDA is expected to give older adults the option of getting a second COVID-19 booster shot as early as next week.

According to the New York Times, the agency is planning to authorize a fourth dose of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines for adults over the age of 50.

The CDC is then expected to follow soon after with what's known as a permissive recommendation.

That means the shots will not be officially recommended, but may be given to people who want them.
