FBI asking people to reset their internet routers

(CBS 58) -- The U.S. Government says Russian hackers infected hundreds of thousands of internet routers with malware. The infection could give hackers access to personal information or even allow them to disable the router.

The FBI has already identified how the hackers got into the routers, now, the agency is asking everyone to do a reboot.

"By turning it off and on, it resets in a way that allows the FBI to identify the devices that were infected," said Ed Stroz, founder of Stroz Friedberg, Aon.

You can reboot your router by unplugging it for a few seconds. Experts also say you should have a strong password and make sure to have the latest software or firmware installed.
