Fatal Accident South of Fort Atkinson

A 48-year-old Fort Atkinson woman died when the car she was in collided with a semi-trailer truck in rural Jefferson County Thursday afternoon.  According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office. 

The accident happened around 4:55 PM at the intersection of US Highway 12 and Tri County Road in the Town of Koshkonog about five miles south east of Fort Atkinson.

According to the Sheriff’s Office report, the car, west bound on Tri County Road,  failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection and collided with the semi-trailer truck, which was south bound on US 12.  The driver of the semi was not injured in the crash.

The name of the victim has not been release pending family notification.

The highway was closed and traffic re-routed for about 3 hours Thursday evening as the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Team examined the scene.
