Family of teenage suspect shot by police speaks out

Police are investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred Friday evening.

Officials say that two uniformed officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert near 26th and Nash around 4:50PM.

The officers stopped two suspects, 15 and 16-year-old males, near 37th and Nash. The 15-year-old had a semiautomatic handgun.

An officer shot the 15-year-old suspect during the stop.

The suspect fled but was later apprehended by police.

The suspect transferred to a hospital, where he is in serious but stable condition.

The second suspect was also arrested.

Police say the 42-year-old officer, who has 13 years of service, was not injured.

He is placed on administrative duty during the investigation of the shooting.

The family of the suspect shot by a Milwaukee Police Officer says 15-year-old Kevin Cole was shot in the back.

On Friday, Milwaukee Police stated the teenager had been shot in the stomach.

No word at this time, if there was an exchange of gunfire between the police officer and the teenager.

CBS 58 spoke with Kevin Cole's mother Saturday afternoon.

CBS 58 reached out to the Milwaukee Police Department Saturday afternoon to get more information about the shooting, and the allegations made by Kevin Cole's family.
