MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The family of a man who was shot and killed two years ago held a vigil to remind people his case is still unsolved.
Deandre Allen was found shot to death on December 26, 2016 near 39th and Michigan. A vigil was held there Wednesday afternoon.
"All I can remember is coming here on that cold winter night and tracking down where my son’s body laid and I was trying to save my baby’s blood," said Shannon Allen, Deandre's mom.
She led the vigil with prayer and song. It was emotional for her, her daughter and Deandre's six children, who were between the ages of 2 and 10 when he was killed.
"That was my best friend and my brother and my life will never be the same," said Deandre's sister, Thyresha Allen.
Shannon Allen says the vigil was not only about her son, but all homicide victims.
"I’m doing it for everyone who has gone through the senseless crimes that I have encountered," she said.
Allen says she speaks with detectives on the 26th of each month to get an update on the case. She is confident the person or people responsible for her son's death will be caught.
