Family Fortunately Out When Fire Breaks Out at Home

A house fire broke out near 11th and Mineral Street in Milwaukee around 6:00 AM on Black Friday.

Neighbors said they smelled the smoke and called the Fire Department. They were thankful the family who lived there made it out safely.

"Our guys got in there very quickly realized that the fire was isolated to the second floor there was no fire below," explained avid Votsis, Battalion Chief with the Milwaukee Fire Department. "They put out the fire very quickly. No injuries to firefighters."

Milwaukee Police will be assisting in the investigation into how the fire started.

Damage is estimated at around $35,000.
