Family of 11, including 8 children, displaced following house fire near 33rd and Walnut
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Fire Department (MFD) is investigating the cause of a house fire Wednesday morning in the city of Milwaukee.
According to Milwaukee police and fire, crews were dispatched to the area for reports of a house fire near N. 33rd St. and W. Walnut Street.
Within minutes, crews arrived on scene to fire and smoke coming from the second floor exterior of the building.
Crews put out the fire successfully and reported that there were no civilian or firefighter injuries.
The Red Cross was called to assist three adults and eight children displaced as a result of the blaze.
Disaster volunteers from the American Red Cross are providing assistance for temporary housing and immediate needs to the family.
The Red Cross announced that they will continue to work with this family as they begin the next steps in their recovery.
Milwaukee police and fire are still investigating the cause.
