Families Saved from Apartment Fire in Mukwonago

The American Red Cross is helping at least four families find places to stay after a fire tore through their apartment complex in Mukwonago. The fire chief told CBS 58 they got the call around 5:00 AM Saturday morning.

There were flames coming from a porch on the second floor and two units were burned.

Everyone impacted by the fire got out safely including a woman and her dog, "I thank God for the gentleman in the other unit that saw the smoke and came banging on our doors. Because if it wasn't for him, who knows, none of the smoke alarms were going off or anything," said resident Sue Uecke.

The Fire Chief said smoke detectors in the units did go off. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
