MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- It is Mother's Day once again in Milwaukee, and families across the city are celebrating in both big and small ways.

The Mitchell Park Domes were busy this morning, with moms like Amanda Heyn and her son Max, celebrating Mother's Day.

"We decided to come down because my grandma is 95 and we're having a Mother's Day brunch for her. And these kids are really curious," said Heyn. "And so, we needed something to kind of do beforehand, and so we decided to come to the dome."

Other moms, like Krista Parker, threw out the first pitch at the Brewers game as part of Aurora Health and the Brewer's Pink Out Game for breast cancer survivors in celebration of Mother's Day with her husband Brandon and her sons.

"I was a little bit nervous just because I was an athlete in my former life," laughed Krista. "And I just wanted to do well and not embarrass myself, but it was a total honor to get to do it. And I had a lot of fun.

Krista has battled breast cancer since 2016. She says today is a special moment for her and her family.

"Ever since I had gotten my cancer diagnosis, every single day is a gift," said Krista. So, getting to be here on Mother's Day just makes the gift even more special because I'm here with my husband, I'm here with my two boys."

Whether it's about celebrating life or spending time passing on Milwaukee traditions.

"It is very cool to do something that I did as a kid and bring them along with, they're very curious kids," said Heyn. "And so, we've been reading all the plant names and looking at all the interesting things and we've been having a great time."

"There's this plant that if you pinched it, and then let go, it would curl up," said Max, talking about his favorite plant he got to see.

Mother's Day, as always, is about supporting moms everywhere, and the most important thing, telling them you care.

"Always be understanding of what they're going through, and you know, be a partner for them any which way you can," said Brandon.
