WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Testimony has wrapped up at the eye drop murder trial in Waukesha, and the jury did not hear from defendant Jessy Kurczewski.
"It was very hard for me to decide, but ultimately I will not be testifying," Kurczewski said to Judge Jennifer Dorow, shortly before the defense rested its case Thursday afternoon.
Kurczewski is accused of using eye drop fluid to poison family friend Lynn Hernan. The defense claims Hernan was suicidal.
Much of Thursday's testimony came from an expert witness, a toxicologist who was questioned about poisoning. The evidence portion of the trial is now over.
Judge Dorow has given everyone an off-day Friday.
Closing arguments in the case are planned for Monday, Nov. 13.
