Experts warn people to stay cautious of allergies with extremely high mold counts

GREENFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The last few days have seen extremely high mold spore counts.

According to the Allergy, Asthma & Sinus Center in Greenfield, yesterday's count, on July 12, was well over 50,000.

Dr. Gary Steven says he's never seen a mold count this high this early in the season.

The highest spore count he ever recorded for July was a whopping 73,000 back in 2012 -- but that happened on the 22nd of the month.

"This is indicative of the increase in temperature that we've been seeing recently because molds like it warm and moist," said Steven.

If your allergies are overwhelming, you're told to see an allergist to determine if mold is the culprit and the best treatment options.
