EXCLUSIVE: Woman says she used to date Milwaukee Firefighter charged with having child porn
After dating Milwaukee firefighter Robert Rutley, This woman says she had to get a restraining order to keep him away.
But didn't expect FBI agents would raid a fire station and find enough evidence to charge him with having child porn.
Mika Janz says she met Robert Rutley on a dating site a little more than a decade ago.
"Met him, thought he was a great guy at first. Always think that in the beginning," says Janz.
Janz says she dated the Milwaukee Firefighter for six months.
"At first it was the fun happy go lucky and then possessive. That's the big thing, and controlling. If I didn't do what he wanted when he wanted it, it started with the yelling," says Janz.
She says it got so bad, she broke up with Rutley and for a whole year after he stalked her.
"He just wouldn't leave me alone. No matter where I was he would show up. I just had enough," says Janz.
That's when she says she got a restraining order back in 2005.
"I tried to go on a date once and that didn't go well, because I made the date leave and locked everything up It was never ending. I would come home from work and there were always flowers and cards. When you get behind closed doors he had a temper. A very bad temper," says Janz.
Behind the doors at fire station 29 where Rutley worked, the FBI says they found enough evidence to charge Robert Rutley with having and handing out child pornography.
"I would have never thought of him as someone who would look at child porn. That really surprised me," says Janz.
The FBI says 44 year old Rutley ran away but agents picked him up during a traffic stop in Big Horn County Montana.
"It's sad when someone is in that kind of position most people look up to firefighters and police officers and trust them. Children who see that second guess who they can trust," says Janz.
We are still looking into what FBI agents found inside this fire station. We do know Rutley has been divorced twice and and he's been in trouble with the department before.
A couple of years ago he and others were suspended without pay for vandalizing the inside of a fire station.
